A NAS in my room

The small computer in my room that never turns off, and what it does. 1 min read

There is a small computer in my room that never turns off. It is a Raspberry Pi 5 with a 2TB drive plugged into it, and it is my NAS. That is a fancy word for a shared hard drive that lives on the network.

I run three shares on it. One is a normal shared drive. One is where my Mac does its Time Machine backup at 3am every night. One holds my iPhone backups.

It also runs n8n, which powers my automations. The evening planning message I get on WhatsApp starts there.

To reach it when I am away from home I use Tailscale, so I never have to open my router to the internet.

This is the first post. More soon.
