How is it set up?
A Mac Mini is the always-on server.
It runs the brain, the speech to text and the text to speech.
My MacBook is only the microphone and the speaker.
Wait, it talks back?
Replies are spoken with Kokoro, a text to speech model, served through a small FastAPI endpoint.
The audio is sent to my MacBook and played there.
Where did it start?
The first prototype listened for the wake phrase "hey jarvis", used Silero to spot speech, Groq Whisper to transcribe it and a local Ollama model as the brain.
Evie is the newer version.
Where is it at right now?
The speaking part works. I am still building the rest.
